A day in the life of a Canberra cleaner – Studios, takeout and school

6am. Shower. Breakfast. Coffee.

I was at my first job (a music tuition studio) by 0830. I started with a floor to ceiling dust and cleaned the skirting boards before vacuuming. I gave the toilets and reception area a  good clean, emptied the rubbish and polished the glass entrance doors, finishing up at around 1030.

I was in the city by 1100 to clean a Latin dance studio. I dusted the shelves and skirting and cleaned the kitchenette and reception area. I gave the timber floors a once over with a catch mop, vacuumed the nooks and crannies and emptied the bins. I polished the mirrors and finished up by mopping the floors with a timber floor cleaner.

By the time I finished I was getting hungry and decided to head to Dobinsons for a sausage roll and $2 choc chip cookie. I really need to start watching what I eat…

Dobinson’s sausage rolls are the best!
Still in the city I headed ’round the corner to clean a ballet studio. I started by running the catch mop over the tarkett dance floor, washed on a pH neutral floor cleaner and washed off with warm water. I vacuumed the common areas, cleaned the toilets and waiting area, polished the mirrors and mopped the tiled areas on my way out the door.

The last job for the day was another dance studio not far from home. I started by cleaning the kitchen, common areas, reception and toilets. I vacuumed throughout, catch mopped the tarkett dance floors and polished the mirrors. I mopped the common areas and polished the glass entrance doors.

Home by 1615. I ate some left-over duck and taro for dinner while preparing and sending a quote to a client who’d requested an end of lease clean.

Finally, I threw my books in my backpack and headed out to Mantra Training & Development where I’m studying a certificate IV in new small business.
